The First Ever Strong-Arm/Strong-Or Figure

Strong-Or (called Strong-Arm in the cartoon) is a figure I never expected Mattel to make.  Strong-Arm (I prefer that name...so let's just use that one) only ever appeared in one episode of Masters of the Universe, but it happened to be one of the ones that, for whatever reason, cemented itself into my brain when I was 5.  He appeared in the episode "The She-Demon of Phantos" where he teamed up with Skeletor to enslave the planet Phantos and take the strongest metal ore in the universe for himself.  As a former miner, Strong-Arm had the necessary skills to create a new face and arm from Photanium after he was wounded in a mining accident.  He used his new arm to join forces with Skeletor in a grab for power.  In his only appearance, Strong-Arm shows off his ability to stretch his metal arm and uses it's immense strength to capture He-Man inside a photanium cell.

Strong-Arm has a truly bizarre appearance, featuring a metal head and arm, pointy ears, a blue spike mowhawk, and orange skin.  While he sort of looks like a mixup of random parts, I thought his mask was a really cool design and his bright blues and oranges add another vibrant addition to my already extremely colorful MotU Classics collection.

Strong-Arm comes with a regular length arm, extended length arm, and Skeletor's shrinking ray.  The arms snap on and off easily, but are a good fit and are not loose once attached.

Here's a shot of Strong-Arm as I have him in my Castle Grayskull display where he's facing off against fellow glove enthusiast, Fisto. That spiked mace came with the castle, and I thought it fit his character more than the shrinking ray.

And now...your moment of zen.

Lil' Masters of the Universe

This week, the popular toy brand, Pop Vinyl (by Funko), released a Masters of the Universe series and I was waiting for 'em!  The series includes He-Man, She-Ra, Skeletor, Hordak, and Spikor.  Being that I am (apparently) not made of money, I settled for just bringing home the first three.  Maybe I'll pick up the other 2 when they go on sale.

The packaging for these cute figures is really nice and features illustrated likenesses of the toys, both on front, and showcasing the entire series on the back.

Now enjoy some closeups of each figure.  This company does a great job of matching each characters likeness with a very simple character style.  I've checked out their work on the Rocky movie figures and it really looks like Stallone and Mr. T!  This toy line has a very fun look and I'm going to try not to keep buying them...we'll see.

Thanks for checking out my fun, new Pop Vinyls!

MOTU Classics Shadow Beast!

I scored a great deal on a Mattel Masters of the Universe Classics Shadow Beast today!  He stand close to 10" tall and towers over the rest of Skeletor's forces!  The dim-witted, but powerful creatures were often used in the cartoon as muscle for Skeletor's schemes, controlled by the henchman, Beastman.

Mattel keeps the high-quality of this figure line going strong here.  Check out the pictures below.  Everything from his fur to the wood rings on his club are expertly detailed.  This is a very slick addition to my MOTU Classics collection.

And look how BIG this guy is compared to Beastman, She-Ra, & He-Man!

New MOTU Classics - Clawful!

One of my ever-growing collections is the Masters of the Universe Classics. Mattel has taken the classic He-Man toys from the early 1980's and reimagined them as better toys, with the Classic look. You can't find these toys in stores though. You can only buy them at www.MattyCollector.com and they only release one figure a month. Generally the new figure sells out less than 30 minutes after being posted. That's why on the 15th of the month I'm poised with 3-5 browser screens open just trying to get in to buy one.

This year there haven't been many figures released that I wanted to buy. This month was the exception, as July brought the return of Clawful, Skeletor's strong, but dim-witted lobster warrior! They used the same basic body as they did for Buzz-Off and Whiplash, but they set him apart by adding a detailed chest piece, great paint applications, a new shield, and of course, his signature HUGE claw! I'm going to shut up now and let the pictures do the talking for me. Just for fun I dug out the old Clawful from 1984 so you can compare them side-by-side. Enjoy!

Return to Eternia!

Hey toy fans! It's time for some more Masters of the Universe fun. I'm posting pics from my favorite ongoing collection, the Masters of the Universe Classics by MattyCollector.com. The whole point of this line of figures was to remake the classic He-Man figures of the 80's but to make them better. As you can see in the picture, they're doing a great job! Another way these are special is, you won't find them at Walmart. No sir, these figures are released on MattyCollector.com on a once-a-month basis. If you aren't online in the the first 15 minutes or less when a new figure is released, you're probably out of luck. Luckily for me they do re-release figures after a year or so, which is how I recently purchased Evil-Lyn. She sold out in less than 4 minutes originally!!!

Enough jibba-jabba! Show the figures already!
